Why every Business needs Professional Photography

When people come across you in real life, they can form a well-rounded impression over a short conversation. When they land on your website, however, you have seconds to grab their attention. High-quality corporate photography is one of the best ways to improve brand awareness and stay at the top of your audience’s mind.

Are you wondering how branded headshots can be a game changer for your business? Read on to find out.

What is corporate photography?

While there is no precise definition of corporate photography, the term usually refers to a planned photoshoot on company grounds. Usually, it involves taking photos of the staff individually, in a semi-formal environment, and while they’re working. It  can also mean taking photos of sites and products, as well as site workers while on the job.

The key factor that makes corporate photography different from any other images you may take at work is the planning, staging, and skill that goes into a professional photoshoot. If you take photos yourself, they’ll likely have different lighting, backgrounds, and angles.

A professional photographer, on the other hand will ensure consistency in all visual aspects. They will bring their own lighting and camera equipment, stage backdrops and advise you on the type of images you need. Moreover, they will deliver high-quality photos that can revolutionise your brand’s visuals.

Why is corporate photography important?

Photographs are the first thing web visitors will notice, but they’re often the last thing companies think about.

While we all think we know better than to judge a book by its cover, it’s not always how our brains see things. A great design, a welcoming face and a high-quality photograph can go miles in keeping your brand at the top of clients’ minds. Moreover, the quality and consistency of professional photographs makes companies stand out from the monotony of stock images we see everywhere.

At CME, we’ve helped many businesses understand the value of brand photography throughout the years. A company photoshoot is an investment in your branding, as well as your marketing. The final images can help you stand out on social media, showcase your work, and communicate your company ethos to your audience.

What does a corporate photoshoot entail?

Corporate headshot photography

These photographs should be the face of your company on LinkedIn and your website’s team page. The consistency and high-quality show potential clients that you put care and thought into every aspect of your work.

Candid corporate photography

Photos of your team communicating casually help you look relatable, personable and trustworthy. Semi-formal photos can also show your headquarters in a welcoming and approachable light.

On-site photography

Most of the work that happens in construction is on-site. Sharing behind-the-scenes photos is a great way to help your audience understand what you do and the quality you provide. Professional photographers will not only take great pictures but also ensure that they follow all the health and safety regulations you specify.

How to plan a corporate photoshoot

To get the most out of corporate photography, your photoshoot will need to be properly planned in advance. Think about what images you need – is it just team portraits or do you want some candid, informal shots? Do you want to share behind-the-scenes photos of the sites you’re working on? Or maybe use them on case studies in which they case they will need to be more structured. You’ll probably need a combination of wide angle shots and close in to demonstrate detail; and portait as well landscape for variety.

You need to make all these decisions beforehand so you can plan locations, coordinate with your employees and ensure health and safety regulations are followed. This way, a photographer can come in and produce all the content you need for the next few months.

How often do I need to have a company photoshoot?

To guarantee our clients have up to date visuals, we recommend doing one photoshoot every quarter. If that sounds like a lot, two professional shoots per year could also be enough, depending on your field of work.

No matter which option you pick, don’t worry - you won’t have to take new headshots every couple of months.

Once you have your portfolio of up-to-date images, you can share them on social media, alongside news stories, and in the trade media. All the while, building a bank of unique content to use on your website and in any marketing collateral like brochures.
